Caritas Technical Secondary School hosts successful safeguarding awareness training

Twenty female student leaders from Caritas Technical Secondary School in West New Britain participated in Safeguarding Awareness Training Workshop.

The workshop was designed to equip emerging female leaders with essential knowledge on safeguarding, child protection and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH).

The event was part of the Incentive Fund’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students through the school and university projects it supports.

The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged lively discussions, allowing participants to explore personal boundaries and the critical importance of mutual respect and confidentiality in their interactions.

This also enhanced the students’ confidence in reporting incidents as well as developing peer support mechanisms.

“It felt empowering to discuss these topics openly and learn how to protect not just ourselves, but our friends too,” one enthusiastic participant shared.

The success of the Safeguarding Awareness Training Workshop marks a significant milestone in Caritas Technical Secondary School’s efforts to cultivate a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone.

“This training is more than just a workshop; it’s a movement towards ensuring that our school is a sanctuary for learning and growth,” stated the school’s GEDSI coordinator, Roselyn Koninda.
