Inclusion
Women and men, including people with disabilities, use and benefit from facilities, such as schools and hospitals, and the services provided in different ways. This is because women, men and people with disabilities have different needs and experiences.
It is important that the needs and requirements of everyone are understood when designing infrastructure or other projects. However, infrastructure is often designed, built and managed without understanding these specific needs and requirements. Seeking to meet the needs of women, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in infrastructure designs and ongoing operation is important as it will enable everyone to use and benefit from infrastructure, and other projects, in their communities.
The Incentive Fund is committed to gender equality, disability and social inclusion. We strive to partner with organisations that facilitate the participation of women, people with disabilities and other marginalised or vulnerable groups in project decisions at all stages – from design to ongoing use or implementation.
