The Centre for Environmental Research and Training (CERT) will establish a facility in Madang Province to generate environmental expertise and build capacity in research, conservation, agriculture, education and governance. CERT aims to empower Papua New Guineans, especially women and marginalised communities, through education programs and vocational training. The project focuses on strengthening environmental knowledge, promoting sustainable practices, and aligning development with local and national priorities for a more resilient and equitable society.
The project will enhance the access of women, young people and people with disability to the performing arts. The new facility and improvements to the current facility will enhance MAT’s capacity to increase its impact as an important organisation and hub for the performing and creative arts, and arts education in Port Moresby, making the Centre an even greater asset for the country and the expanding city. The new facilities will also offer a range of theatre arts training and educational opportunities for Papua New Guineans by improving production quality and promoting greater use of the facility by the community.
Construct a new library including an early childhood education centre at the Sonoma Adventist College in Kokopo, East New Britain Province. The new facilities will increase access to education for women by providing safe childcare opportunities, as well as increase accessibility and quality of early childhood education training for local students. The facility will increase research and study opportunities in a safe environment, provide appropriate early childhood education for between 20 to 30 children annually, reduce barriers to women’s participation in education, and increase access to qualified early childhood educators, with at least 15 students annually able to access new practicum opportunities.
Provide expanded and improved health-care services to the people of Bosset and the catchment villages through construction and furnishing of the health centre and patient wards, maternity ward, staff houses, incinerator, workshop, generator shed and fencing.
The Total Waste Management Resource Recovery Centre Project aims to create and manage the region’s first fully-integrated Resource Recovery Centre, promoting increased awareness and behavioural shifts to view waste as a resource (especially challenging materials like plastics). This initiative will expedite Papua New Guinea’s move towards more sustainable waste management practices and pave the way for a circular waste economy.
