The PNG-Australia Partnership through the Incentive Fund provided a grant to the University of Technology for the construction of a new female dormitory which will support additional female enrolments in technical disciplines each year, by providing safe, secure accommodation. The new dormitory provides access to safe, modern student accommodation will reduce overcrowding in existing dormitories and support more women to study technical disciplines, increasing their opportunities for employment in lucrative fields post-graduation. The project is expected to increase female student enrolments, increase the number of students housed on campus and improve student living conditions and educational outcomes. The new 100-bed female student dormitory at the Unitech Lae campus, with fixtures to support study, including tables and ICT equipment.
